Comic Relief Leg Waxing
March 16, 2009 by barebraes
The residents of Shapinsay had a poll over the last few weeks to raise money for the Comic Relief cause.
On Saturday 2 poor chaps had their legs waxed for charity due to popular demand. you could hear the screams from here
What did you do or have done for charity ?

So far, Sponsored Silence, sponsored hour Danceathon, sponsored eightsome reel, baking.
Recently made a wordsearch and sold it for charity.
Ummm I’m sure I’ve done other stuff too but I don’t think it’s been that exciting lol
Molly and I took part in a sponsored dog walk at Lulworth Cove last summer in aid of a local hospice charity. We raised £500.
so that’s what all the noise was last weekend
you could hear it over here
I did a sponsored Dragon Boat race with friends from the tax oaffice and Edinburgh a few years back to raise funds for a cancer charity who had arranged transport for me too and from hospital appointments. twas such fun. We all dressed as pirates, my then partner and our five kids were there. The other teams took it all very very seriously…we didnt. Infact, we stopped half way accross on our last heat for an impromtue piknic, lol. at first the stearer wasnt pleased, then he saw the funny side and joked that next year he would bring a calander to time us instead of a stopwatch!!! I wasnt supposed to be on the boat, Lymes disease apparently, but did get to go on the second heat due to some of the team member being locked in the loo’s…now how did that happen
I’m on sponsored frogwatch…I get paid for not eating them…all donations to the EffCee&Marmers Flittin’ Fund!
I once dyed my hair bright blonde (two packets of booster powder) …!
It wasn;t for Comic Relief, but everybody laughed …
What a busy lot you have been !!!!
Sponsored silence - that’s a good one Mirlnlass. Reminds me of the title of Heinrich Boll gripping story about Dr. Murke’s Collected Silences.
I ran 3 Terry Fox fun runs of 10Km each. for Cancer funds. Terry Fox is a Canadian hero who attempted to run across Canada for Cancer research. He ran 26 miles a day for 142 days. He had only one leg and died when Cancer came back.
